Adien's Story

Adine Stephens Clark, age 76, was born December 6, 1939 in New
Castle, Ind. and departed this life on August 20, 2016. She was the
oldest daughter of the late Fred Clay and Louise Stephens.
She is survived by one son—Michael Paul Cathey and his wife Tammy of
Bagdad, Ky.
Also surviving are three grandchildren—Mikka, Melodee, and Jesse
Cathey; and two sisters—Maxine Stephens and Anita Stephens.
As a young woman she worked for the Frontier Nursing Service in
Hyden, Ky. and later started her own lawn maintenance service in
Monticello mowing up to 40 yards each month with her push mower for
20 years.
She enjoyed Bluegrass music, writing short stories for the Wayne
County Outlook, Historical Society's Overview and the Kentucky Explorer.
She enjoyed reading Civil War stories. Some of her favorite things
were trains, fluffy white clouds, butterflies, sunsets and photography.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Psalms 147:16 - "He giveth snow like wool; he scattereth the
hoarfrost like ashes. "
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers expressions of
sympathy take the form of donations to: Adine Clark Memorial Fund, c/
o Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral service was held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the
funeral home chapel with Bro. Tommy Nelson and Bro. Gary Stephens
officiating with burial in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
