Alma Marie Hammond Smith, age 84, of Monticello, passed from this life on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Golden Years Nursing Home, Monticello, Ky.
She was born on May 29, 1932 in Delta, Ky. to the late Marvin and Alpha Branscum Hammond. She enjoyed reading, bingo, crafts and crossword puzzles.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by a son—Marvin Edward Isabele, of Louisville; a daughter—Gloria (Ron) Mardis, of Bronston; brothers—Marvin Lee Hammond, of Somerset, James Grant Hammond, of Monticello; sisters—Eleanor (Bobby) Gregory, of Monticello, Susie Kaye Stringer, of Somerset, Lucy Faye Silvers, of Monticello, Sue Carol Smith, of Monticello, Shirley Louise Simpson, of Monticello, Nancy Dianne (Jim) Brown, of Monticello; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband—William Edward
Isabele; second husband—Lawrence Smith; and a brother—Charles Paul
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the New Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Keith McKim officiating with burial in the New Salem Cemetery.
