Arvel Bentron Koontz
Arvel Benton Koontz was born January 3, 1943 in the Spann Hill
community, the son of Delbie and Dora Koontz and the seventh of their eleven children, and passed away on October 27, 2019 at the UK
Chandler Hospital reaching the age of 76.
Of his siblings, he is survived by-Lorene Barnett, Hazel Dick, Phyllis Neely, Gary (Julie) Koontz, and Gwendolyn (Randall) Morrow, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings-Earlene Koontz, Edward Koontz, Cleo Coffey, Jimmy Koontz, and Debra Koontz.
In 1964 he was united in marriage to Wilma Morris who survives him along with their two childre-Demetra (John) Cooper and Barton Koontz, and three grandchildren-Lindsey, Clayton and Allison Cooper.
Known to everyone as Benton, he was a devoted and loving husband and loving father to his children.
He was a very energetic person and would always offer help to anyone who asked.
He loved spending time with grandchildren and sitting on the front porch.
He began working at Monticello Paint & Supply, and then Warner
Fertilizer, working for many years in the agriculture supply business.
He was devoted to his Savior Jesus Christ and attended Spann Hill Baptist Church where he was the song leader for several years.
He was a peaceful person, which is one of many things his family and friends loved about him.
He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him and is with the Lord now.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial following in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
