After a long illness, Asberry Cowan, Jr. went home to be with Jesus,early on Sunday morning, August 28, 2016 at home with his family.
He was born on June 3, 1937 to the late Asbery Sr. and Grace Cowan.
He lived and worked in South Bend, Ind., where he retired from Solvay Automotive Systems. He enjoyed farming, gardening and he loved his family.
He also enjoyed caring for Hydro Blaze Cunniagan, who he thought of as his son.
He was preceded in death by his son—Patrick C. Cowan; his seven siblings—William Oliver, George, Charlie Lee, Mae, Geneva, Marcella and Annzella.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Shirley; and his three
children—Barry Thomas, Janice, Cedric Todd; and one grandchild—
Charles Matthew; as well as in-laws, a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 2, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Terry Jackson officiating.
Pallbearers were—Kay Allen, William Andrews, Mitchell Cowan, Jack Riley and Johnny Sloan. Honorary pallbearer—Pete Carson.
