Text size

Betty Fayrene (Worley) Godsey was born May 18, 1936 to the late
Maude (Neal) Worley and William Elmor Worley.
She was one of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her brothers—Porter, Paul, Carl, Billy, and Willard; and sisters—Octava, Annalee, Ruth, Jean, Jo and Ella Mae.
On March 19, 1955, she married Marble Godsey and to this union six children were born.
She is survived by five daughters—Jacqueline (Robert) Alexander, Linda (Terry) Black, Elaine (John) Kennedy, Michelle (Dale) Vaughn, and Christal (Gery) Dick; eight grandchildren—Terrian, Sheena, Jatessia, Dylan, Zachary, Layne, Hunter and Keelan; and five great-grandchildren—Austin, Paislee, Montana, Teagan, and Aleah.
One son—Johnny C. preceded her in death.
She accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Clay Hill Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Rogers Grove Baptist Church where she was a member until her death.
She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She was a great mom and grandmother.
She loved gardening and working in her flowers.
Anyone that ate her cooking can tell you she was a great cook.
She always put her children and grandchildren before herself.
Her greatest love besides her children, son-in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her Savior.
She always said He was with her during the good times and the trials and troubles of her life, and he loved her by answering her prayer to save her and to go on home with him on Tuesday.
She will be sadly missed by her family, a host of nieces and nephews and her friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Charlie Dean and Bro. Danny Bell officiating. Burial was in the Clay Hill Cemetery.
Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
