Charles Frederick Cooper was born April 10, 1936 the son of Thomas Gerald and Mae Sharpe Cooper. He passed away June 6, 2017.
On January 1, 1956, he was united in marriage to Betty Castello Cooper who survives.
He is also survived by two sonsCharles Michael and his wife Beverly Cooper of Lexington and James Thomas Cooper of Monticello.
He also leaves five grandsonsNicholas Alan, Benjamin Michael, Jacob Hershael, Samuel Henry and Zachary Thomas Cooper all of Lexington; and five great-grandchildren.
He was an eighth generation Wayne Countian and was proud to be
descended from one of the county's earliest settlers, Revolutionary War veteran, George Fredrick Cooper.
He had accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello.
He was a strong democrat and an avid fisherman.
He was the longtime owner of the City Pool Hall and was in the
construction business in his younger years.
He was a three-term member of the Monticello Independent Board of Education.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Bro. Mark Helton, Bro. Dennis Wheeler and Bro. Paul Stringer, officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
