Chilton's Story

On Sunday, March 4, 2018, Chilton Rankin, passed away at the age of 62 years.
He was an extraordinary husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
A sixth generation native of Monticello, Chilton attended the University of Kentucky before joining his father in the insurance business in Monticello.
He is survived by his wife of twenty seven yearsVicky (Stewart); and sisterMary (Norman Dam); nephewJohn Dam (Kealey), Rankin Dam, Jeff Robinson (Michelle), Michael Robinson (Krissy); and nieceKelley
Robinson (Beth).
He is preceded in death by his parentsProctor and Tillie Rankin; and his sisterAnn.
Chilton, also known as "Proc's boy" in small-town Monticello, will be remembered for his sense of humor, compassion, and enjoyment of life.
One of his nephews said of Chilton, "He was big and funny and fun, and that made him the perfect uncle."
An avid water skier, he relished rock climbing, being outdoors, going to shooting matches with his gun buddies, riding his Harley Davidson, listening to Jimmy Buffett, and spoiling his dogs.
Some of his favorite things were log cabins, old cowboy shows, peanut butter, bagpipes, cowboy cooking, and startling local businesses by bursting into their offices with a loud WHOOP.
A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, he was a quiet Christian who lived his life with integrity and honesty.

A celebration of life service was held Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Shawn Bain and Bro. Ronald Sartin
officiating.
