Claude Phipps, Jr., age 80, of Monticello, Ky., passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at his home.
He was born September 15, 1936 in Monticello, Ky. the son of the late Claude Phipps and Grace (Ramsey) Phipps.
He is survived by his wife—Mildred (Guffey) Phipps; one son—Ralph(Rosemary) Phipps; two daughters—Elissa Phipps and Lenora (Wes)DeHay; four grandchildren—Jason Phipps, Heather Piercy, Claudia DeHay and Presley DeHay; and five great-grandchildren—Destiny Carter, Cody Phipps, Jacob Piercy, Hailey Piercy and Jordan Piercy.
He is also survived by two brothers—Johnny and Guy Russell; and four sisters—Mable Cross, Georgia Duncan, Gloria Allred, and Gay York;along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by one son—Steve Phipps; and two brothers—Garry Russell and Grant Russell.
He accepted Christ and was a dedicated member and deacon at Rector's Flat Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Kenneth Dick officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: Rector's Flat Baptist Church or Hospice of Lake Cumberland
