May 3, 1943—Feb. 16, 2016 Dellard Owen Duvall was born May 3, 1943 in Sonora, Ky., the son of the late E.A. Duvall, Jr. and Elizabeth Owen Nall. He departed this life Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at The Hospice House of Bowling Green reaching an age of 72 years. On December 12, 1964 he united in marriage with Vera Walters Duvall, who survives. To this 51 year union two children survive—Derek and his wife, Deborah Duvall of Bowling Green and Melissa Jane Duvall Adams of Monticello. Also surviving are his granddaughters—Erica Adams, Olivia, Avery and Georgia Duvall; his step-mother—Anna Lee Duvall; and his brother— Dennis Duvall. He is preceded in death by his sister—Gail Turner. He was retired from General Telephone and Electric after 28 years of service. After his retirement, he and Vera owned and operated the Plaza Wash for 24 years and founded the Cumberland Tel Com Company. He was a member of the Monticello Kiwanis Club, the Monticello Masonic Lodge # 431 and cruised with the Cumberland Street Ramblers. He was retired from the Monticello Fire Department and had 33 years of service on three different departments. As a young man Dellard accepted Christ as his Savior and became a member of the Sonora Baptist Church. At his passing he was a faithful member of the Monticello First Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and countless other positions. He served as a crew chief with Kentucky Changers and his work with Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief was tireless over 20 years. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Fugitt, Bro. Larry Koch and Bro. Dennis Wheeler officiating. Burial was held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 in the Elizabethtown Memorial Garden. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
