Aug. 16, 1941—March 25, 2016 Donald Edward Blackburn, age 74, was born August 16, 1941 in Gap Creek, Ky. to the late Ernest Clinton and Edna Pearl (Melton) Blackburn. He died March 25, 2016 at his home in Frankfort, Ind. He married Lectia Annalee Jones on December 16, 1961 in Monticello, Ky. and she preceded him in death December 22, 2010. He grew up in Wayne County, Ky., attended school in Windy, Ky. and moved to Frankfort in 1964. A self-employed building contractor, he operated Blackburn Construction from 1970 until 2007. Don was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family. His family includes three sons—Terry Blackburn of Brownsburg, Jerry (Susan) Blackburn of Austin, Tex., and David (Rhonda) Blackburn of Michigantown; two daughters—Melissa Bryant and Donna Blackburn, both of Frankfort; two brothers—Ernest Blackburn of Newport News, Va., and Bobby Blackburn of Otterbein, Ind.; two sisters—Geneva Sutton of Otterbein, Ind. and Shirley (John) Verhoeven of Otterbein, Ind; lifelong friend Bertie Staton of Frankfort; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers—James Dallas Blackburn and Frank Blackburn; half-brother—Shelby Reno and great-grandson Laiten. The funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Wayne Martin of Harmony Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort. A memorial donation may be made to Clinton County Cancer Fund. Goodwin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
