Elvin Dodson, Jr., age 86, of Monticello, Ky., passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at the home of his son in Albany, Ky.
He was born December 12, 1929 in Falcon, Ky. the son of the late
Ernest and Mahala (Conley) Dodson.
He is survived by three sons—Gregory (Jamie) York, Gerald (Evana)
and John (Irene) Dodson; four daughters—Linda (Mike) Hammond, Janet
Coffey, Judy (Lindell) Gregory, and Joyce (Mike) Crain; his former
wife—Zella Dodson; one sister—Leriene Lair; and two brothers—Rev.
Jackie and Rev. Billy Dodson; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-
He was preceded in death by his long-time companion and Greg's mother
—Ethel Mae York; a son—Randy Lee Dodson; a brother—Paul Dodson; and a
granddaughter—Regina Lou Hammond.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. in
the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jim England and Bro. Dewey Burks
officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of
sympathy take the form of donations to: Elvin Dodson Memorial Fund,
c/o Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home.
