George Vester Stephenson, age 87, of Monticello, Ky., passed away
Friday, August 19, 2016 at his home.
He was born December 1, 1928 in Monticello, Ky. the son of the late
Bal and Mamie (Parmley) Stephenson.
He married Veila "Bea" Parmley and to this union four children were
He is survived by his wife, Veila Parmley; three daughters—Mary
Trejo, Sue Newell, and Violet Whitehead; seven grandchildren—Celeste
Stephens, Amber Day, Tyler, Clinton, and Sara Cagle, Aiden Newell,
and Samantha Stephenson; and three great-grandchildren—Kara Coyle,
Ian Casada, and Wilder Day, and two on the way.
He is also survived by two brothers—Cecil and Vancil Stephenson; and
two sisters—Gearlene Parmley and Vela Stephenson; along with a host
of family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by one daughter—Faye Stephenson; two
brothers—Ralph Dexter and Bruce Stephenson.
He enjoyed growing a garden and worked hard all his life.
He enjoyed sitting on the front porch and playing his guitar.
He loved mules, Johnny Cash and watching Gunsmoke and Alaska Frontiers.
He passed away with his family all by his side as he was getting up
to go outside - he was determined not to die in his bed.
He was definitely a person no one could label and had his own way of
doing things but he instilled in his family his great love.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the
Parnell Methodist Church with Bro. Mike Hollars officiating. Burial
was in the Parnell Methodist Church Cemetery.
