Hilma's Story

Hilma Lois Troxell was born on March 8, 1934 and she went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2016 at the age of 82.
She was proceeded in death by her parents—Bradley and Madie Criswell Malone; her two sisters—Jewelene Young and Marsella Bell; a granddaughter—Samantha Rigney, and her husband Dallas Troxell.
She is survived by one brother—Kay T. (Lois) Malone; and eight children, 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
On June 16, 1952 she married Billy Dobbs.
To this union was born four sons—Dwight (Marlene), Steve (Sandy), Gary (June) and Ricky (Hazel) Dobbs.
On April 10, 1960 she married Dallas Troxell.
This union added four children—Patricia Parmley (Morgan), Barbara Craig (Gary), Randy Troxell (Connie) and Pricilla Miggenburg (Bill) -making a happy family with eight children.
She loved to remanence about the nightly ritual of her giving each one a bath and sending them to Dallas to brush teeth, give a drink of water, put on pajamas and then she tucked them into bed. She loved those memories.
As the kids got older she took pride in grandchildren, showing off pictures, telling stories and enjoyed the fact that new ones kept making her family happier.
She worked for years at the Monticello Shirt Factory, then helped Dallas manage the Monticello County Club where she played at least one round of golf every day.
She hung wallpaper for over 20 years, making hundreds of new friends as she made their houses more beautiful.
She said she loved every day of wallpapering and did it as long as she was able.
She made her profession of faith in the Lord when she was young.
She raised her children in the church and was a member of the Green Hill Baptist Church at the time of her passing.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Henry Stringer officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
