Howard's Story

Howard Edward Tucker was born May 15, 1945 in the Delta Community of Wayne County the son of the late Harvey and Elizabeth Tucker and departed this life Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Cumberland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset reaching the age of 72 years.
On August 17, 1963, he united in marriage with Marie Rose Tucker, who survives.
To this 54-year union five children surviveMichelle Rowe, Melinda and husband Danny Ballou, Dwight Tucker, Kendall and wife April Tucker, and Rodney and his wife Angela Tucker.
He is also survived by his grandchildrenWilliam and Traci Tucker, Zachary Tucker, John (Autumn) Rowe, Austin Rowe, Kendra Rowe, Melissa (Joshua) Ping, Danyale Ballou, Sabra, Hannah, Mckensie, Brayden, and Haley Tucker; three great-grandchildrenHarley Tucker, Serenity and Josiah Ping; and one sisterVicki Sexton.
He leaves behind many nieces and nephews to morn his passing.
He is preceded in death by his siblingsMildred Casper, Sue Ellis, Dorris Rodriquez, Junior Tucker, Dallas Phillips and Dale Dodson; and his son-in-lawDanny Rowe.
He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and always remained very proud of each one of them. He taught them to work hard at an early age on the farm.
He had accepted Christ as his Savior at age 14 at Cedar Hill Baptist Church and remained a lifetime member from that day forward.
He was a hard worker, loved people, and enjoyed sharing stories from the "Old Days."
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Michael Hammond and Bro. Denver Godsey officiating. Burial was in the Tucker-Gibson Cemetery.
