Jacqueline  Holbrook Hay
Jacqueline Holbrook Hay, age 86, of Springboro, Ohio, formerly a resident of Monticello, Ky. passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the UC West Chester Hospital in West Chester, Ohio.
She was born November 29, 1932 in Letcher County, Ky. to Minerva
Bates and Curtis Holbrook.
Jacqueline, better known as Ms. Jackie, was an elementary school teacher in Wayne County Schools and taught at Walker Elementary.
She retired in 1992 after 37 years of teaching.
She obtained her teaching degree at Alice Lloyd College in 1951 at the age of nineteen and taught in one of the few remaining one room schoolhouses in Letcher County.
After that she went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in teaching from Eastern Kentucky University in 1960.
She was preceded in death by her mother-Minerva Bates; father-Curtis Holbrook; brothers-Harold Holbrook, Leslie Holbrook, and Robert Hampton. She is survived by her sister-Janice Isaac.
She is survived by three children, her sons-William (Nickie) Hay of Paducah, Ky., Scott (Darla) Hay of Middletown, Ohio; daughter-Brooke Hay of Springboro, Ohio; the father of her children-Billy E. Hay of
Benton, Ky.; daughter-in-law-Kim Hay of Benton, Ky.; four
grandchildren-Jenifer, Maynor, Nathaniel, and Connor Hay; and one
great-grandchild-MaLlani Jones.
She was a lifelong learner.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed art museums and poetry.
She loved being a teacher.
She was a very loving mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed traveling and trips to the lake with her family.
She had a great sense of humor and many friends over her lifetime.
She is very loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She attended First Baptist Church of Middletown, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Paul Stringer officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
