James Elic Ferrell, age 86, was born in Monticello on October 5, 1931 the son of the late John and Nancy Simmons Ferrell. He departed this life Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the home of his niece.
On August 9, 1965 he united in marriage with Ruby Arthur who passed away February 22, 1990.
He is survived by his step-sonJack and his wife Mary Webb, and step-grandchildrenVicky Jones, Randy and Mark Webb.
Also surviving are ten nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and
nephews and four great-great nieces and nephews.
He was the surviving member of the John and Nancy Ferrell family.
He is preceded in death by his siblingsMary Arthur, Emma Ferrell, Roxie Flynn, Raymond and Billy Ferrell.
He had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Fellowship.
He was a life-long carpenter and worked at the Anchor Motel for many years.
He was a very witty guy who loved to make people laugh and a friend who would help anyone in need. He enjoyed visiting the Wayne County Senior Citizen Center, building things and being outdoors.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Darrell Bunch officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
