James Grant Hammond, was born April 29, 1954 in Somerset, Ky. the son of the late Marvin and Alpha Branscum Hammond. He departed this life Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington reaching the age of 63 years.
He is survived by his daughterKathleen Hammond and her friend
Danny; and grandchildrenKiah and Cory Hammond.
Also surviving are his siblingsEleanor and husband Bobby Gregory, Kay Stringer, Faye Silvers, Marvin Lee and wife Beulah Hammond, Sue Carol Smith, Gloria and husband Ron Mardis, Shirley Simpson, and Nancy and her husband Jim Brown; with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends to mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death by siblingsAlma Smith and Charles Paul Hammond.
His love was square dancing, and he found a special joy sharing that with his dance partner of 13 years, Doris Pitts.
He worked for many years with the JC Tucker Company and was
presently employed with Kroger.
He had accepted Christ as his savior as a young man and was a
member of the Slate Branch Baptist Church in Somerset.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Keith McKim officiating. Burial followed in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
