Jesse Lee Wallen, age 67, of Celina, Tenn. and formerly of Monticello, Ky. died peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tenn. in the company of his adoring family.
He was born in New Castle, Ind. on June 30, 1950 to the late Willie O.and Mary Hazel (Abner) Wallen.
He was preceded in death by his brothersBilly Wallen, Charles Wallen and Joe Wallen; and one great-grandchildBlake McLearran. Throughout his life he was first a Dad and Papa and could always be called upon as a friend.
He served in many roles, including working for many years with General Telephone in Monticello, Ky. and later became an independent truck driver.
He was baptized into Christ many years ago and became a member of the Faith Baptist Church on February 4, 2015 where he attended until his health prevented him otherwise.
Survivors include one daughterChristie Keen and husband, Chris of Celina, Tenn; one sonJamie Wallen and wife, Jennifer of Russell Springs, Ky.; five grandchildrenHeather Judd and husband, David, Amanda Gulley and husband, Josh, Dylan Keen and wife, Makali, Aiden Keen and Alexis Wallen; seven great-grandchildrenKaylee, Alyssa, Steven, Reagan, Benton, Lola and Jayce; special friend and the mother of his childrenKathy (Sexton) Wallen; many nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Craig Ogletree officiating.
Interment followed in the Alexander Chapel Cemetery.
Tommy Owens, Ricky Wallen, Billy Ray Wallen, Brandon Wallen, Ricky Griffis and David Judd served as active pallbearers.
Dana Wallen, Bill Guffey and Jack Roberts were named honorary pall bearers.
The local D.A.V. Chapter 105 provided Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home and cemetery.
Upton-Hay Funeral Home and Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
