Joe Fred Cooper was born February 11, 1934 the son of the late Joe Fox and Myrtle Denney Cooper.
He departed this life Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in Lexington reaching an age of 83 years.
He united in marriage with Goldie Esteleen Richardson Cooper on December 20, 1952. To this 62 year union two daughters surviveDebra Jo and her husband Abbas Larian, and Connie Lynn and husband Scott Cumming.
Also surviving are his grandchildrenStephen Bertram, Nika Larian, Dwayne Roberts and Lucas Roberts; great-grandchildrenAmara, Keith, Carlie and David Roberts and Amanda Rains.
Surviving siblings are Alice Gosser, James, Ray and Gary Cooper.
His sisterDorothy Francis precedes him in death.
He served his country with honor in the United States Army and was retired from the National Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer.
He had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a faithful member of the Spann Hill Baptist Church.
Service of Honor was held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Kenneth Dick and Bro. Roy Gregory officiating.
Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Military Honors presented by Wayne County Chapter #105 DAV.
Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
