June 9, 1950—Jan. 20, 2016 Kirby Kay Parris, age 65, of Monticello, Ky. departed this life January 20, 2016 at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehab Center of Somerset following a long illness. He was born June 9, 1950 the son of the late Robert and Lovie Barnes Parris. He had accepted Christ as his Lord and attended the Pleasant View Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife—Diane Newell Parris of Monticello; two sons—Brian Leath of Texas and Robert Parris of Somerset; four daughters—Rochelle Parris of Monticello, Kara Brinson of Ore., Tracy Parris of Richmond and Shanna Parris Tompkins (Erik) of Monticello. Also surviving is his siblings—Donna (Kenneth) Sloan and Sonny Parris of Monticello and Wendell (Lilly) Barnes of S.C.; a brother-in- law—Jimmy Slaughter of Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren with several nieces and nephews to mourn his passing. He is preceded in death by sisters—Veronica Slaughter and Kathleen Sloan; and a grandchild Justin Parris. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 26. 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Phillip Duncan officiating. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
