Phillip York, age 77, was born April 4, 1940 and departed this life on September 5, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his parentsCharlie and Lettie (Garner) York; brothers and wivesJunior (Betty) York and Gene (Treva) York; father and mother-in-lawMarvin & Mary Norfleet and brothers-in-lawJimmie Norfleet, Harold Norfleet and Andrew J. McIntyre, II.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, partner in life, and devoted caregiverDoris (Norfleet) York whom he married May 12, 1962; brotherFrank (Betty) York; sisterBrenda (Don) Hiten; niecesBarbara(Alvin) Sexton, Kristy (Tim) Reeder, Carol (Brian) Ford and nephewCharles York.
He is also survived by sisters-in-lawMarlene McIntyre, Brenda (Ray) Shrader, and Annette Norfleet; brother-in-lawOscar (Susie) Norfleet; niecesMarti (Ben) Shoenfelt, Amy (Clint) Edwards, and Elizabeth(Michael) Riley and nephewsPhillip (Kristine) Atwell and Eddie(Jessica) Norfleet, plus numerous great nieces & nephews, as well as many friends.
He was employed at Selvidge's Star Market, Peoples State Bank and retired from the Monticello Banking Company after 32 years of
He was a member of the First Church of God and remained active as long as his health permitted.
He served in the Kentucky National Guard, was a member of the
Monticello Masonic Lodge #431 and also was commissioned a Kentucky
His love of farming came at an early age working at the stockyards in his teens and continued throughout his life as he worked side-by-side with Doris on their farm.
He was a true example of what a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend a person should be. His caring heart will be missed by all who knew him.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: First Church of God Building Fund or Hospice of Lake Cumberland
Funeral services were held Friday, September 8, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Oral Denney, Bro. Darrell Bunch and Bro. Mike Sexton officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
Military honors were performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.
Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
