Lucian William "Bill" Carrender, are 78, was born in the Frazer community of Wayne County, October 14, 1938 the son of the late Benn and Arizona New Carrender. He departed this life Tuesday evening, June 6, 2017 in the emergency room of the Wayne County Hospital.
He is survived by his wifeRosie Mae Tucker Carrender and childrenLucian William Carrender, Jr., James Robert (Teresa) Carrender, Shirley Ann Carrender, Patience Colleen (Tim) McLaughlin, Tabitha Shivon Carrender, Amanda Gail (Bill) Padgett, Jeanie Sue Hughes, Sandra Mae (Chris) West, Joe Donald (Freda) Hammond and Christina Allison Hammond.
Also surviving are his siblingsHarley Carrender, Cindy Carrender, Earl (Margie) Carrender, Victoria (David) Peters; grandchildrenDaniel Lee (Jennifer) Carrender, Lacey Renee (Josh) Irvin, Edward Vertrees (Ashley) Weddle, Stacy Ann (Christian) Cox, Ashley Marie (Jamey) Disponett, Jairus Evan (Jessica) McLaughlin, Samantha Nichole (Vladi) Makasova, Jessica Lynn Witten, Holli Marie Witten, Bailey Ann Witten, Joseph Alan Witten, Dakota Isaac Blankenship, Isabella Marie Padgett, Nicholas Wayne Padgett, Brittany Nichole Hughes, Dustin Ray Tyler Hughes, Cadynce Eller West, Xaivea Ray-Ann West, Shawn Aaron Hammond and Zachery Allen Hammond; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his siblingsHershel "George" Carrender, Kenneth Carrender and Donnie Phelps; and his grandsonWilliam Robert Carrender.
He served his country in the Navy for 11 years and served his Lord as a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Stanley Tucker and Bro. Adam Tucker officiating. Burial was in the Carrender-Tuttle Cemetery.
Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
