Aug. 29, 1926—March 8, 2016 Mrs. Gladys Evelyn Hardwick, age 89, of Salem passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at her home. She was born August 29, 1926 in Monticello, Ky. the daughter of Elbert and Nona Baker Dick.  She was a homemaker and a member of Westside Baptist Church. On October 24, 1942, she married John Hershel Hardwick who precedes her in death. She is survived by two daughters—Imogene “Jeanne” Shinn of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Carolyn Hardwick of Salem; grandson—Chris Shinn (Kirsten) of Louisville; great-grandson—Seth Shinn of Louisville; two brothers—Rev. Charles E. Dick (Charlcy) and Rev. H. Kenneth Dick (Mae) both of Monticello, Ky.; uncle—Vernon Dick of Monticello; brother-in-law—Paul Hardwick of Salem; sister-in-law—Ella Vaught of Eubank, Ky., many nieces and nephews, her longtime caregiver—Eugene Hughes; and her faithful, little companion—Dusty. She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and her son-in-law. Funeral services were held Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery. Weathers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
