Ray Hartford Dotson

February 20, 1928 - December 24, 2016

Ray Hartford Dotson was born February 20, 1928 and went to be with his Lord on Saturday evening, December 24, 2016 having reached the age of 88 years.
He was the son of the late James Nelson and Gracie Dotson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Whitt Dotson.
He is also survived by his children—Roger Dotson (Janet) of Sydney, Ohio, Barbara Dotson-Wurgler (Frederick) of Leesburg, Fla., George Whitt, Jr. (Tammy) of McCarr, Ky., Kenneth Ray Dotson of Lexington, Ky., Mary Margaret Church of Monticello, Ky., and Steven Dotson(Bonnie) of Monticello; sisters—Geraldine Tilfer and Okeyleen Comer of Mich.; brother—Paul Dotson (Faye) of Michigan; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son—Rodney Dotson; seven sisters—Dora Underwood, Nellie Dotson, Blanche Coleman, Opal Norman, Thelma Ratliff, Edna Totten, and Elsie Hatfield; seven brothers—Elmer New, Harold New, Troy Dotson, Glen Dotson, Ralph Dotson, James Tennis Dotson, and Earcle Dotson; one grandson; and special friends—Odie and Gladys Hollars.
He accepted the Lord as his savior 30 years ago. He loved God, family, and friends.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working outdoors.
Christmas was his favorite time of year. He enjoyed putting up Christmas lights and decorating his home to demonstrate the magic of Christmas.
His favorite pastime was watching his T.V...especially wrestling.
He lived, worked, and loved his family as much as anyone ever could.
He adored his lovely wife and will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1 p.m. in funeral home chapel with Bro. Michael Hollars and Bro. Mack Patrick officiating. Burial was in the Piney Woods Mission Church Cemetery.
Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
