William Franklin "Frank" Gilliam, Sr., age 70, of Monticello, passed
from this life on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in Somerset.
He was born in Rome, Ga., on October 17, 1945, the son of the late
James Preston and Hazel Williams Gilliam.
On January 30, 1964, in Selma, Ind., he married Connie Saylor, the
love of his life.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Miami
He was a retired tool maker for the General Motors Company. After
retiring, he continued to work as a self-employed master carpenter
and heat and cool specialist.
He is survived by his two sons—William Franklin Gilliam, II, of
Monticello, and Travis Scott (Sondra) Gilliam, of Greenwood, Ind.;
his brothers—James Preston (Pam) Gilliam, of Echo Point, and David
Paul (Karen) Gilliam, of Muncie, Ind.; his sisters—Carol Ann (Merle)
Saunders, of Selma, Ind. and Billie Faye (Chuck) Messersmith, of
Winchester, Ind.; his grandchildren—Courtney (Brandon) Tate, Bradley
Gilliam and Alex Gilliam; his great-granddaughter—Aria Tate; his
nephews and nieces—Jason, Damon, Rachel, Chad, Drew, Jeri Ann, Joe
Alan, Brent and Karissia; and many other family members and friends,
all who will mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death his loving wife, Connie, who passed away
April 23, 2016; and his daughter—Toni Michelle Gilliam.
All services will be privately held by Frank's family.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
