Willie's Story

Willie Dean Duncan, age 70, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, Ky.
He was born January 9, 1947, in Monticello, Ky. He is the son of the late Raymond Duncan and Adell Bertram Duncan. He was united in holy matrimony to Phyllis Perkins on March 19, 1967 in Somerset, Ky.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, three loving sonsPhillip Duncan (Nancy), Michael Duncan, Stacey Duncan (Robin); four grandchilrenTyler Duncan of West Palm Beach, Fla., Tiara Duncan and Kalin Duncan of Monticello; as well as special grandchildZack Gilmore of Somerset.
He is also survived by two brothersLarry Theophas Duncan and
Cornelius Duncan (Maggie Anna), both of Monticello; two niecesConcha Fulcher Christian (Kareem Christian), Deliane Fulcher Harris (Kevin Harris) both of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one nephewDonovan Duncan(Angela) of Monticello; two great-niecesJocelyn and Laila Christian of Los Angeles; two great-nephewsTrent Sullivan of Edmonton, Ky., and Isaac Duncan of Monticello, Ky.; and one sister-in-lawBecky Duncan of Monticello, Ky.
He is also survived by many relatives and friends around the country who will miss him greatly. He was a very gentle, kind and outgoing person who loved life and was always encouraging others with a joke or words of wisdom, taught by his dad and mom.
He is preceded in death by three brothersHenry Arthur Duncan,
Donald Sevoyah Duncan, and Dorsey Fount Duncan; and one sister
Rochelle Duncan Fulcher.
He accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a young age and
stayed in church all his life, teaching his own children to work and serve the Lord.
At his passing, he was a devout member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Monticello. He was the head of church development and the move to the current location, where his eldest son, Phillip, is now pastor.
He was an entrepreneur who owned his own janitorial maintenance business with clients such as Monticello Banking Company, Monticello Medical Associates, etc.
Funeral arrangements were held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant View Baptist Church.Burial was in the Monticello Cemetery.
Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
